It is so quick that it can be applied in the rain or even underwater. This means it can also be used on snow-covered roofs and any other wet surface, providing there is adequate ventilation underneath the membrane.
As with all 100% acrylic coatings, Promar 200 requires a primer before it is applied. This is especially important when the surface to be coated features untreated or previously painted surfaces, and high-profile roofing felt.
However, once this has been done, two coats of Promar 200 are sufficient to provide the correct application thickness, which will depend on the condition and profile of the existing roofing membrane.
Generally speaking, two coats of Promar 200 will be sufficient to give a final product thickness of between 30 and 40 MMS under suitable conditions. Three coats may be necessary in less than ideal circumstances and where a thicker coating is required (for example, on broken or severely weathered membranes).
The more coats applied, the greater the protection, of course, but this will depend on how prone to damage the roof is.
Promar 200 dries to off-white color and should be covered with a high profile felt or tarpaulin immediately after it has been applied to prevent any contamination from soot, birds, and other animals. This will also help to avoid any staining from rainwater or snow.
When applied as a final finish, the surface should be allowed to dry and cure naturally for around three weeks before the felt is removed. In extreme cases, protection of some sort should continue until the Promar 200 can resist inclement weather such as hail, heavy rain, etc.
